It is intended to accompany and complete _Portuguese Literature_ (Oxford, 1922), for which it was originally written in 1916. Students should consult the bibliography contained in Dr. Fidelino de Figueiredo’s _A Critica Litteraria como Sciencia_, 3rd ed., Lisboa, 1920, and the yearly _Bibliographie Hispanique_, New York, 1905, &c.
